How these articles are made

This page exists so you can judge our work. It describes what we do, and the checks that run on every article before it publishes.

Sourcing

Sources are grouped in three tiers. Tier one is a company or lab publishing about its own work. Tier two is trade press. Tier three is mainstream news, which we use to gauge whether a story matters, not for its text. A story has to clear a relevance and corroboration threshold before it is written at all, which is why we publish a handful of articles a day rather than everything that crosses the wire.

AI disclosure

Articles on this site are drafted with the help of large language models, working from source material our editors select, and reviewed by a human before publication. The byline is "HyppoAI Newsroom" because that is accurate. We do not invent a human reporter's name for work a model drafted.

The checks that run on every article

  • Figures. Every number, dollar amount and percentage must appear in the source material. Numbers are extracted into an allow-list before drafting, and the finished draft is checked against it. A draft containing a number we cannot trace is rewritten, and if it happens twice the story is dropped.
  • Quotations. Any quoted run of four or more words must appear in the source. A fabricated quote kills the story.
  • Originality. Drafts are checked for runs of text lifted from a source. We report on stories, we do not republish them.
  • Attribution. Every article carries a Sources block linking each outlet it was built from.

Independence

HyppoAI News is published by HyppoAI, which sells software to businesses. We cover companies whose products compete with ours and companies whose products we use. Where a story touches HyppoAI's own commercial interest, we say so inside the article. We do not take payment for coverage, and nothing on this site is sponsored.
